I am woefully behind on posts. The fabulous news is that it’s because we’ve opened our doors and have had a busy few weeks at Hosking House. We are actually DOING IT and we are truly flat out! The house has been full of guests, (and not just once =) Now we we are buckling down, cooking breakfasts, cleaning rooms, welcoming guests, working on getting the word out about us and actually running this business.
I have drafts of the entire process, and will be updating the blog like mad in the coming weeks to bring you up to speed.
My highlight this week, is of this tremendous walkway and it’s impact on life here in New Plymouth. I try to see it as much as possible and this past week I saw it at sunrise and sunset. I began the weekend with the New Plymouth, North American, women’s walking, winging and wine-ing club’s weekly jaunt. It was the first walk in colder weather as this long, hot, dry, sunny summer is finally giving up its hold on the region. We began the walk bundled up and I ended it with a solo run back along to see the start of the surf festival.
This walkway is truly a draw to the region, which was highlighted by a call we received. A woman wanted to show her friend walkway as she had never seen it. When I asked the woman how she found Hosking House, she confirmed that she found our website (yes, it’s working) after searching for a place to stay that was central to town, close to the walkway, offered a cooked breakfast, a two room suite and was modern and boutique.
Thanks go to the walkway for bringing our next set of guests here to New Plymouth – and many thanks to all who helped make Hosking House that we could give them the little details they were looking for to complete their visit.
A flat out day, indeed!
