Today’s blog topic was books….
I LOVE BOOKS. I love having book shelves filled and have always loved traveling and staying in places with unique things to read. I can think of a lovely little hotel I’ve stayed in many times in Paris that had an honor bar in their library. Coming down before dinner, or stopping in after and thumbing through a big art book was heaven.
During my time in London, I had a habit of buying the book or catalog from each art exhibition I went to, (and honesty have been known to delight in the store at the museum just as much as the exhibition itself.)
These books now have a home!
The book that we are falling in love with lately here at Hosking House is the guest book. From the comments of our first guests, the McCrackens to the Mayor of Invercargill, to the latest from a lovely French group this morning….this book tells the story of our House from our guest’s perspective.
Our guest lounge has a host of magazines, travel books and novels I thought people might want to tuck into on the front porch.
And instead of bibles in our bedside tables, there are books of poetry.
To see a world in a grain of sand
And a heaven in a wild flower,
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand,
And eternity in an hour….
Every night and every morn
Some to misery are born,
Every morn and every night
Some are born to sweet delight.
Some are born to sweet delight,
Some are born to endless night.
