What our guests say:
"Outstanding. We stayed for a night just before Christmas and it was exceptional. Rachel and Rodney are wonderful hosts and the rooms are simply stunning. Fantastic dinner and Christmas shopping recommendations and a quick stroll up to see the festival of lights, made for a magic stay. After our stay at Hosking House, we wouldn't stay anywhere else in New Plymouth."
"We stayed at Hosking House with friends on a child-free weekend to celebrate one of us hitting the big four-O and it was amazing. Absolutely stunning rooms in a beautiful setting with lots of attention to the small details which go above and beyond expectations. Rachel and Rodney were the perfect hosts and made us feel so welcome and very indulged. Delicious breakfast, luxurious toiletries, beautiful bed linen, funky bathrooms, nice coffee, quiet location, the list goes on! Wish we could have stayed longer and definitely hope to be back. Plus some really cool stuff to see and do in New Plymouth, all made for a fantastic time away."
"5 Star Luxury: I cannot rate this B&B highly enough. The owners are delightful and cater to your every need. The house itself has been very carefully planned and renovated. It is within walking distance to restaurants, bars and main shopping centre. We had an amazing stay and will definitly return."
Hosking House's owners Rodney Hosking and Rachel Church have turned the classic and elegant walls of 1 Victoria Road, into their dream of a fabulous place to stay in the vibrant city of New Plymouth, which is truly 'Like No Other.'
Based on their own extensive travels and international experiences, they have created a space in which they would want to stay, come home to and celebrate in.
Hosking House draws its name from owner Rodney Hosking and is in honour of his extensive family in the Taranaki Region. Rachel Church hails from Long Island, New York and spent ten years living in San Francisco sipping Zinfandels and Pinots, and she and Rod met while living in London. Rod's newest passion is perfecting the creations coming out of Hosking House's pizza oven and building many of the handcrafted pieces in use in the House. Rachel is currently embarking on the 2-year diploma level course in Wine (a precursor to a Master of Wine,) and is thoroughly enjoying discovering New Plymouth and New Zealand through her running shoes and a wine glass.
